Navigating Next Steps with EduVenture

The EduVenture team were excited to host UoN and ANU ambassadors last week and got to hit the road to visit schools.

The team worked with Year 10 across 5 high schools, facilitating sessions on topics such as ‘Navigating Next Steps’ and where to find career information; how students can utilise their own skills, strengths and interests in their future; and they were all excited to give the Virtual Reality headsets a go to test out some careers in the virtual world!

Wingham High First to Test Drive a VR Career Experience

Students at Wingham High School have made history as the first high school in the region to take part in a groundbreaking virtual reality career experience, thanks to an exciting partnership between Taree Universities Campus (TUC) and MindFlight7, a leader in innovation in education.

Delivered as part of TUC’s EduVenture program, the immersive VR session gave Year 10 students the chance to explore more than 30 different careers—ranging from plumbing and open heart surgery to deep-sea diving and space exploration. Using high-tech VR headsets, students stepped into industries they might never have imagined possible, broadening their career horizons in a uniquely hands-on way.

“It’s such a great way to get them to experience what it might be like to try new or different careers,” said Gemma Death, part of the TUC team who helped bring the experience to life. “You could see the spark—students were genuinely excited to explore their futures.”

MindFlight7’s cutting-edge platform is designed to inspire and inform career exploration through immersive learning. With Wingham High blazing the trail, TUC is now set to roll the experience out to five schools across the Manning Valley, continuing its mission to connect young people with aspirational opportunities—without leaving their local community.

This initiative is part of TUC’s broader commitment to empowering regional students and strengthening the MidCoast’s future workforce.
