Senior Youth Worker
What kind of opportunity is this? Part time
This role will lead the delivery of the StreetTunes youth project with high level support from the Executive Officer. The StreetTunes program uses music to engage and empower young people who have faced various life challenges. The program aims to help young people 12-18years make safe and healthy decision, build resilience, overcome life challenges, strengthen connection to community and learn new skills with potential employment opportunities and pathways.
This role will supervise a casual youth worker and will develop, lead and deliver the program as part of a team with a collaborative nature.
This role involves supporting young people from the Mid North Coast region.
No on call or weekend work.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote a 'risk-aware' culture where staff proactively identify, report and address all forms of risk to clients, staff and Saints Care Ltd.
Provide an environment that is safe for children, young people and vulnerable adults, free from harm and promoting staff commitment to safeguarding.
Follow processes in line with the organisations compliance for incident reporting, child protection, safeguarding and WHS
Ensure safety standards are maintained for self and others and all hazards and incidents are reported within appropriate timeframes.
Adherence to Youth Service administrative and practice principles including outcomes reporting.
Work within complex youth presentations
Contribute towards program development and review
Provide trauma informed and client-centred mentoring to young people
Assist clients in practical needs such as housing, living skills, education and training and wellbeing.
Facilitate and develop group work programs/initiatives that align with the purpose of the service.
Develop and participate in community outreach events/programs
Build and maintain professional relationships with various other external stakeholders (NGO’s, Schools, DCJ etc)
Commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically diverse clients, communities and staff;
Support and lead volunteers and casual staff
Other suitable duties as required from time to time to support the service within skill set, knowledge and scope of the role.
ABOUT YOU:
Essential requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in a Social Work, Psychology, Welfare, Community Services, Youth Work or related areas
Experience working with and supporting young people with complex backgrounds, trauma and at-risk behaviours
Knowledge and experience working from a trauma informed approach
Knowledge in youth development and youth mental health
Experience in delivering mentoring support
An understanding of the culture and strengths-based practices
Experience working with First Nation communities
Demonstrated networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience in developing and delivering groups or training
Experience supervising volunteers and casual staff
Experience in managing crisis situations with a risk-adverse approach
Desirable requirements:
Experience working with regional First Nation communities
Experience and/or interest in music, including making and mixing music
Trained facilitator in evidence-based youth group programs
Other Mandatory Requirements:
National Criminal History Check
Working with Children’s Check
Current NSW Driver’s Licence
